COMBINATIONAL MODEL / EXPERIMENT ELEVEN

This design utilizes the triangulated structural system from our reciprocal model to create a flexible inhabitable space. The final design has a triangular base to maximize stability, while nesting an inverted tetrahedron within that larger form. The two tetrahedrons are structurally dependent upon each other; cables provide the tension necessary to keep the form intact.

The system’s lightweight components and modularity make it ideal for a portable or seasonal structure: the joints between metal posts can be detached, allowing for easily disassembly and reassembly. The open walls allow visitors to enjoy the open air, either in the sun on the elevated platform, or in the shade beneath it.
