The project is inspired by Kengo Kuma’s Coeda House and Fujimoto’s Serpentine Pavilion. The idea is to explore structural stability through a “uniform wall system” – the space frame – while creating an interesting visual rotation effect (45 degrees) that is uncommon in traditional space frames. Our team believes that the materiality of wood should lead to an organic architectural solution, and after a discussion on the symbolism, going through possible structural options like a bird nest, a cave, a tree, we eventually decided that we would create a weeping willow shaped structure where there would be a stem in the middle and three other towers reaching towards the central stem tower and connect there.
