The premise for the third phase of our project merges diagonal bracing with lateral loads to explore potentials in stable yet flexible structures. Taking the singular angled column from our original concept, we arranged them in tubular structures to produce a 360 degree system of cross-bracing around a ring. These structural “drums” were stacked on top of one another to produce three, three story columns. We were interested in the stability of the tubes not just as free standing elements but as a collection of structural and spatial components.
