COMBINATORIAL MODEL / EXPERIMENT SIX

Based on the final parametric variation produced in the second assignment, a structural model for a house is produced. The geometry generated from the combination of structural elements, tensile elements, and loads is abstracted into a tectonic framework consisted of multiple triangular modules. Learning from the lecture on tectonic frames, wood was chosen as the fundamental material that can hold both tension and compression forces within the frame.

As a result, the structure model produces a light weight cabin with a platform lifted by two canopies and supported by two ramps connecting to the ground. By enclosing and opening surfaces of the canopy, we produce spatial conditions where people can look out and engage with the activities on the ground visually.
