EQUILIBRIUM MODEL  / EXPERIMENT ELEVEN

This is an experiment in how materials of various densities can be constructed into a singular system and reach equilibrium. By hanging the weight in mid-air by strings that swing when a force is applied, equilibrium in static versus dynamic in the system was also explored. We first built a set of identical molds from clear acrylic, as the base containers for our experiment variance - heavier objects of different height.

Then rockite of various was casted into the containers so that each height would represent a different weight of the material. A system of equilibrium was created through the introduction of sticks to apply tension force and hold up the weight, strings to apply compression forces, and finally placing them against each other on hatches on the base plate to create a variation of angles that the system rests on.
