This experiment builds upon the work of designers like Frei Otto and Sergio Musmeci in the use of soap film as a form-finding method. Rather than relying on a bounding box to provide external structural support, the frames for our six variations are integral to the forms, resulting in free-standing structures. By breaking free from the bounding box, this strategy highlights the spatial implications of the membranes themselves. The structural frames are constructed from loops of wire, which are deformed or multiplied to explore variation in resulting minimal surfaces.
