EQUILIBRIUM MODEL / EXPERIMENT EIGHT
This project is a combination of our three initial iterations. The block (the load) is kept in place using a tensile membrane that wraps the block without the use of fasteners. The block, that would normally slide down the structural beam due to the gravitational pull, is held back by the membrane.
The structural strip that resides directly under the block is notched, allowing for variation of the secondary strip to increase the angle, change position, or even move side to side according to the supportive small bars that are nailed into the base. The strips are in compression. Another set of nails wraps three sides of the model base, serving as the points where the membrane is secured.
