Our 12x12” base has been modeled to support a 6x6” base using two “columns” and “cables.” Our constant variable in this project was keeping the two columns in the same place on the 2” grid of the base board. These acted as the compressive forces against the tensile string. From here, we used different tensile string arrangements to support the base off the ground as it occupied different positions on the board in relation to the compression counteraction of the columns and the board.
