EQUILIBRIUM MODEL / EXPERIMENT TEN

Inspired by cantilevers and found objects, our equilibrium model aimed to create a structural cantilever using recycled materials. We selected 2 steel rods, 1 aluminum tube, two IKEA paper packing crates, and a metal piece with rectangular cutouts based on their material properties such as their texture, composition, and rigidity.
Our design hinged on the IKEA cardboard's grid system as this influenced how components anchored in place. The challenge was increasing the vertical distance between the crates and controlling their angle.
To gain height, we used the longer steel rod and aluminum tube. The aluminum tube, which fit over the rod, slid vertically, with double-sided tape providing friction to set the desired height.
