FOLDING MODEL / EXPERIMENT FIVE

The project endeavors to transform interactions between the mesh and structure system developed in the previous exercise into a series of folding models. Elements of the triangle and rhombus shapes remain to define both concave and convex folds. Among the models, three types of folding structures are explored: the first plays around with the folding of a single sheet formed by connecting solid plates, the second reenvisions some plates as supporting structures by cutting and remaining only the frames of the plates, and the third considers the flexibility and motility between and within the plates. This time, the cables applied as connections between the mesh and structure systems in the previous exercise are now inverted into a pulling force that stabilizes and maximizes the spacial structures produced by the folding models.
