MEMBRANE MODEL / EXPERIMENT FOUR

Our project explores the continuity of tensile forces within membrane structure. By disrupting the membrane with different number of holes, we looked into various shapes that membrane can form within the frame. There are two variables in our design: the symmetricity and number of holes on membranes. In the first three variations, we tried to explore only symmetrical forms, starting from membrane with no hole to one hole, then two holes. We also applied the tensile force directly through the bounding frame. In the next three variations, we start to change the position of bounding points of the membrane, while letting membrane interact with the extra shapes extracted from the holes to generate more complicated shapes.
