We continue the exploration of form-making with magnets. One of the elements we brought from the previous project was the adjustable bounding box made of threaded rods and nuts. This system allows us to adjust the fabric to the desired height changing the length of the curves. In the first project, we avoided the magnets making contact with each other generating curves that didn’t touch. In this project, we allow the curves to make contact. The parameters we work with are the diameter of the magnets and the distance between each fabric. We used a range of magnets from as small as 6mm to as large as 30mm. There was a correlation between the diameter of the magnets and the intensity of the curves. The smaller the magnets, the less subtle the curves, and the larger the magnet, the more exaggerated. The project explore the numerous configurations available to create a modular and adaptable system.
