RECIPROCAL MODEL / EXPERIMENT NINE
Anna Cook
Maggie Martin
Nathaniel Leazer
We investigated the three-part system of columns, beams, and tension forces needed for a reciprocal structure while pushing it towards an end goal of liberating the structure’s corner supports. Through stacked basswood sticks and string, the model began to support itself and allow various degrees of asymmetry. We used paracord as the tensile element and basswood sticks to approximate columns and beams in compression.
