This model uses a system of equilateral triangles in various sizes to create a multileveled structure. The experiments began with a simple cantilever using two triangular elements anchored to the ground with tensile force. From there, each iteration grows outward or upward. The initial tensile force is replaced, first by balancing the structure with self-weight, and then by integrating that tensile element into the system’s tensegrity system. By threading elastic bands through aluminum tubing, the linear structural elements apply both compression and tension, keeping each pyramidal unit from deforming.
