The Reciprocal models continue to investigate how our system of folds can create diverse structural and spatial conditions. The system consists of a gridded base, platforms custom to each structural variation, masking tape, and two pairs of 5” x 7.5” rectangles with two folds each - recycled from our Equilibrium models - made by laminating Bristol and ⅛ inch plywood. Physical experimentation tested how pieces could work together to withstand vertical and horizontal forces, where added support (tape) was needed, as well as where platforms would be structurally possible and spatially compelling. Rhino modeling allowed customized platforms to fit within folds.
