For the second assignment, Combinatorial Model, our design builds on concepts from the first project, which explored compression and tension forces using wooden modules connected by slits and tensioned string. This dynamic pavilion translates those ideas into an architectural form. The first layer of the design consists of CLT structural walls, which create intimate event spaces while maintaining an open atmosphere and free circulation. The second layer introduces a modular roof system with shorter rectangular CLT panels strategically placed in areas requiring additional structural support. The third layer features an expressive roofline that merges structure and aesthetics by interlocking smaller CLT panels to establish compression. Above this, a semiopaque, corrugated roof balances transparency and enclosure.
