EQUILIBRIUM MODEL / EXPERIMENT EIGHT

In attempting to keep a horizontal platform suspended in equilibrium using tensile and compressive forces our first design planned to use a series of cables with attached weights strung through a triangle of vertical columns to suspend a lightweight triangular platform. We tested various counterweight measurements in order to proceed different angles of suspension for our platform. Through experimentation we discovered that our design lacked the stability needed to keep the platform in equilibrium and the use of elastic cables created variability in our results, making it so that our experiments would not be possible to precisely replicate.
