This experiment had the goal of creating structurally sound, self-supporting cantilever structures using curved folds. Four experiments were run testing different variables and vectors of curved folds: curve length, number, orientation, symmetry/asymmetry; as well as material type and size. Based on these findings, a catalog was made which allowed for educated predictions of movement, reaction, and structural quality of paper. Final parametric variations then combined these explorations into a series of aggregate model templates using standard unit sizes and elements drawn from each individual exploration. These aggregations demonstrate the potent structural benefits produced by curved folds.
