This experiment tests the ability of a catenary arch(es) and straight chain members to support andlevel an acrylic plane. An equidistant triangular grid of holes attaches the chain to the plane andto the exterior acrylic support structure. Variables tested include different lengths of chain, heights of arches, and numbers of chains to support the same gridded plane. Progression to aninverted version resolved the chains as oblique wooden supports with pegs fitting into thetriangular grid, rendering the plane very stable.
