Organized by a strict one-inch grid system, the model base and cubes have notches etched at 1/8-inch thickness. These grids create negative spaces, and the removed material becomes modular sticks reused as structural elements. Indexed to the same grid, they register with the base and the 4"x4" and 2"x2" cubes. Serving as contact points for compression, the notches do not lock like mortises and tenons. Pressed into base and cubes, the sticks connect volumes. The iterations move from a “grounded” single-axis center of mass to a dispersed, multi-axis balance.
