Our equilibrium model pairs compression and tension through linear elements. A wooden dowel serves as the primary compressive member and organizing spine. Drilled holes allow wires to pass through the dowel and take on smooth, controlled curves. The dowel carries compression with light bending, while the curved wire braces it and distributes the load where the curvature is highest. Because the holes capture the wire, it stays securely in place. Two strings run from the dowel tips to the base, working in tension to create different angles of the dowel and prevent the wire from snapping back.
