Taking into account the structural elements we studied in the Hanging Model exercise, we set out to explore how connection‑point systems can generate a deployable structure. Here, we work with a square bounding frame that, when unconstrained, can transition from a fully expanded to a fully contracted state. This compression–relaxation cycle is achieved through sliding components along the frame’s four sides, enabling the assembly to assume varying rigidity levels while defining the interior space. For the membrane, we began by shaping hyperbolic surfaces at the base and progressively extended them upward to form a continuous canopy. Each membrane panel is square (read as a diamond in elevation) and fastens to four anchoring points—one on each side of the frame.
