This project explores the spatial and structural potential of tension-only systems through a macrame mesh suspended in a hexagonal wooden frame. Anchored at twelve points, the mesh responds to varied tension and internal forces introduced by two rigid rods. We developed six configurations-- resting, symmetrical, asymmetrical, and twisted-- examining how rod placement and frame torsion influence the membrane’s form and behavior. The process emphasized iterative experimentation, adjusting anchor tensions, rod positions, and frame twists to observe their effects on the structure. Each step built on the last, revealing how subtle changes in force distribution transform the model’s spatial and structural dynamics.
