Building on our last assignment, our group continued utilizing the heat-forming qualities of PETG, but with a new framework to provide further experimentation. Two pieces of hollow wooden framework with handles, allowed the PETG to lie flat during the heating process and be clamped together as forces are applied. The new frame system also allows for external forces other than gravity to be applied within multiple directions and angles of protrusion. This freedom of new variables were explored throughout the model and experimentation process to yield a number of results testing different variables than our first project. The PETG was etched with gridlines to help understand the forces, and compare testing between models. Further experimentation and testing revealed the spatial potential through varied direction of tensile forces.
