We reused the grid and frame from our hanging model, with the addition of a second grid on the base. Our group initially began by working with the fabric alone but found it difficult to generate defined forms. As a result, we introduced cords (wire, chains, string) to better accentuate curvature and provide more control. After many iterations, we found that the chains and lobster clasps offered the most flexibility and variety of form. Our variations explore simple forms through rational placement of the clasps, movement through twisting and bending of the fabric, and asymmetry through mirrored relationships between the top and bottom.
