The process of making the Equilibrium model resulted in a design strategy of using minimal basswood as the sole component within a system whose load-bearing capacity far exceeded its own lightness. Taking this strategy further with the Reciprocal model, the structural concept of a dense mass erected upon a light-fibrous base inclined our design toward a water tank structure. Instead of iterating unique, individual bases which were dependent upon the set orientation of a specific object as we did prior, we sought a modular jointing system that could be arranged to accommodate masses of varying dimensions, weights, and orientations. The 30/60/90 and 45/45/90 triangles became the modular components because the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal edges inherently give each triangle a global stability.
