COMBINATIONAL MODEL / EXPERIMENT TWO
The combinatorial model continues to distribute tensile forces vertically and horizontally to materialize a suspension bridge. Three repetitions of double wooden arches and platforms connect with four foundational footings. The platforms and the wood strips are each lined with a series of equally spaced holes to allow for a corresponding logic of webbing the string.
As a result, the linear progression of its repetition creates a moderately enclosed architectural space, which is continuous and traversable by foot. The bridge’s tensile string generates collective curves that define the subject’s experience with visual porosity and a variation of spatial thresholds.
